PMA Pauses Pilates School Approval Program

Why is the PMA pausing the Pilates School Approval Program?


We’re pausing the program for two reasons: 1) Our Director of Education, Orianne Tairum, is leaving the organization and we are searching for a replacement. The PMA is a lean organization with very few staff. While we’re sad to see her go, we’re grateful Orianne is staying on for a limited time to get information and protocols in place for the next person. 2) The PMA is undergoing an extensive database migration in the coming months that will require us to disable several systems. We’re excited about the benefits this change will bring for our members, but it will require us to “power down” our current databases as we make the move




Will the PMA really bring the program back?


Yes! We are fully committed to the Pilates School Approval Program. Schools that successfully navigate the application process have stressed how important it is for both the professionalization of their Pilates training program and their businesses. In addition, we recognize that the PSAP approval process makes it easier for schools to navigate state licensing requirements for vocational businesses.




I have submitted and paid for an application, but it has not been reviewed yet. What happens now?


You have two options: 1) We will keep your application on file and it will be a part of the first applications we review when the approval process reopens on October 4, or 2) We will cancel the application and refund your application fee. I have submitted an application and paid for it. It was reviewed and sent back to me because some standards were deficient. When can I resubmit my application?


If you are still interested in having your school be a part of the PSAP program, please plan to resubmit your application after October 4. It will be a part of the first applications we review when the approval process reopens. If you would like to withdraw your application, we will refund your application fee. I am currently working on completing my application. When can I submit?


You may submit your application when the process reopens on October 4, 2021.




I’m up for renewal soon. Who can help me?


Schools scheduled for renewal between now and the new acceptance period will have their PSAP-approved status extended through October 4. If you have additional questions, please contact us at psap@pilatesmethodalliance.org.
